Anna Katrina, upon learning that her uncle has died under mysterious circumstances, seeks answers to the riddles left unanswered by the old man – how ancient is the history of the Baltic peoples, what legacy have the ancestors left us, and what is truly written in the parchment signed by the Tsar of Russia, Peter I, which her uncle dedicated his life to finding. In her quest, the woman encounters Ronald Prūss, a researcher of Baltic language signs, and his classmate, investigator Benedikt Hirshhof. Events entangle,
unravel, and intertwine again into an unsolvable knot, so that the young people, following seemingly incompatible facts and events, can solve the mystery of Peter's oath.
